About the Event

This is a 50-something mile gravel road RIDE, not a race. The terrain is all north of the Laurentian Divide. There are no killer hills though there are a lot of undulations in the road. Most of it is noticeably within Superior National Forest but there are a couple of spots that open up to farmland.

It is unsupported. We'll come get you if you break your bike beyond field dressing, or arrange a ride with flashing red lights and sirens if you need one; otherwise, you are on your own. There are no stores or gas stations en-route. The only water available is in the form of lakes and streams. Prepare accordingly.

Lunch/dinner is potluck. Bring a dish to pass if you wish to participate--make sure you label your dish. We'll organize the food while you are on the road. We don't have a lot of chairs, so if you want to sit on something other than the ground, you may want to bring your own.

5th Annual FFGG&PP -- Volunteers Needed

Greetings, all!  We hope that your summer has been delightful yet uneventful.

It is nearly time for the Fiddlin' Fifty and we are looking for volunteers.  The areas in which we need help are as follows:

On Friday Afternoon/Evening--
Set Up of Tents, Tables, & Chairs -- We will be borrowing some from the neighbors but could use additional, if they are available.

On Saturday--
Parking (7:00 - 8:30) -- We need one person to show people where to park.
Collection of Food from Riders (7:00 - 8:30) -- We need one or two people to collect food from the parking area and bring it to the house for the riders.
Registration (8:00 - 8:30) -- We need two people for this job.  Susan has a new Plan to make it move along more smoothly...
Food Table Organization & Maintenance (7:00 - the end) -- The Food Collectors can help with this, but ideally we would have one person In Charge of food storage and presentation.  It could be done in shifts so that no one person does it all day.
General Directional Help (all day) -- All volunteers can do this.  We need people to help everything run smoothly for the riders.
Photography (all day) -- It would be grand to have photos from start to finish.  We would especially like to have someone in a couple of places out on the course.  Mud Hole, of course, but there is some delightful sand on the Taconite Trail section...

Don't let the times scare you--It is always possible to switch with someone else.  Please let us know soon if you can still help and, if so, a couple of different preferences so that we can cover it all.

Happy riding!
